A man and woman sitting on a wooden bench near the beach, smiling and laughing together. The man is wearing a black T-shirt, glasses, and jewelry, and sticking out his tongue. The woman is wearing a light denim jacket, glasses, and a white dress, with her arm resting on the man's shoulder.

Hi, we’re Joe and Joyce.

Somehow our lives folded together and landed here in Jazan, Saudi Arabia.
A place where the sea meets the mountains and everyone has an opinion about mangoes.

Most foreigners choose the big cities.
We chose Jazan.
Or maybe Jazan chose us.

Every day here, life hands us a new phrase, a new proverb, a new question that sits between cultures like a conversation waiting to be shared.

How unANSWERED Began

Joe’s coworkers would ask him questions they had carried alone for years.

Joyce would share Cantonese sayings that somehow matched American idioms.

Someone else would offer the Arabic version, and suddenly we were holding three cultures in one conversation.

At some point, we looked at each other and said:

We should record this.
Not because we are experts.
But because these conversations kept showing us something important:

There is far more that unites us than there is that separates us.

What We Do Here

Every week we take a saying you probably heard before.

We dig into it, look at the history, and find the humor. We ask why we use the saying, what it means now, and how it manages to shape the way we think without our permission.

We found that a single phrase can really become a whole conversation about who we are and who we want to be.

Why This Matters

The world is loud.
Opinions fly like arrows.
Arguments pierce our souls.

But every time someone teaches us a phrase from their culture, or asks us a question they’ve held in their chest for years…

The room gets a little softer.
People become less afraid.
And connections form.

We think the world needs more of that.
A place to sit, think, and ask the questions you’d save for 2 a.m. talks in the dark.

So Pull Up a Chair

If you like learning how a tiny saying can open a big story…

If cross-cultural life makes you curious…

If you’re tired of pretending and you want something real…

You belong here.

Find us on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or X and say hello.

Teach us a phrase from your language.
Ask us a question you’ve been holding.
